2-4 p.m. at Kepler’s Books in Menlo Park
An amazing foundation, Blue4Beban (www.bluefire.org), will be celebrating the winners of its annual writing contest.
I will be there to listen to the award-winning pieces, to talk with young authors about their work, to give insights into becoming an author and living the writer’s life, and to answer questions (I love questions).
I’ll be one of the judges at Saint Francis High School’s annual poetry slam.
Yet another chance for me to be moved and inspired by high school students and their creativity and poise.
Kirkus Reviews has named The Counterfeit Family Tree of Vee Crawford-Wong as one of the Best Teen Books of 2013.
I’ll be at Kepler’s Books in Menlo Park, helping support one of my favorite local bookstores
a la Sherman Alexie’s rage call. (More info on this at: http://www.bookweb.org/indies-first)
Drop in to visit, do some Christmas shopping, and get book recommendations!
Having fun bookselling, with author Keith Raffel.
at Books, Inc. Opera Plaza in San Francisco
Mocktail party with authors, teens, teachers, librarians, bloggers, and fans.
Lit Olympics, trivia games, and awards. What could be more fun?

If you’ve never visited this bright children’s bookstore in Los Altos, CA,
use this as an excuse to do so.
Looking forward to seeing lots of teens out for this one!
Thrilled to be reading at this vibrant bookstore in Berkeley, CA.
Come for the reading, the chatting about writing, the literary ambiance,
or the chocolate (yes, I’ll be bringing chocolate).
Reading alongside Adam Mansbach (author of Go the F*ck to Sleep – an oft-quoted text in our house!),
Dean Rader, Ben Loory, and poet/translator Anita Barrows.
A fun venue with delicious drinks and a cool literary vibe.
